I'm excited to be part of the IHM school community and to be working with Ms. Lori Walls once again, but this year in Pre-K 3! I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Leadership from Stevenson University and have been teaching at the pre-primary/primary grade level for fourteen years. My previous teaching experiences include pre-k, kindergarten and pre-first grade(s) at St. Paul's Plus Preschool, McDonogh School, Our Lady of Grace School and IHM.
My husband and I reside in northern Baltimore County with our children, Noah and Delilah. Noah is a third grade student at IHM. I am looking forward to getting to know all of the children and helping them grow and learn this pre-kindergarten school year!
Ms. Lori Walls
This is my seventh year at IHM and I am thrilled to be working with Ms. Sara and our friends in Pre-K 3!
I earned a B.A in English and Writing in 1994 from UMBC and previously worked in journalism and editing. However, I have always felt a passion for working with children and have volunteered with children's programs in various capacities all through my life. Ultimately, I was fortunate to complete a 2-year term of national service through AmeriCorps, working on child hunger programs at the Maryland Food Bank. This full-time service was so rewarding that I continued to work as a Program Manager with Volunteer Maryland, an AmeriCorps Program of the Governor's office. This gave me the opportunity to work with nonprofits serving children across the state, as well as to mentor AmeriCorps members beginning their careers in national service.
Eventually, I left AmeriCorps to spend time at home with my son, Jacob. When I decided to return to work, I was blessed to find a position here, working first in the Pre-K classroom, and then making the move to Kindergarten. I will be returning to the Pre-K classroom this year, alongside Ms. Sara. The best part of my job is that every day, I get to see the children learn something new about themselves, and to learn something new from them.
